I never set out to write newsletters, as I don’t like the term. If I send out a ‘newsletter’ I think I’ve got to write, well, some news.
As it happens for a change, I do need to actually write some news.
And I’m going to bring it to you via the medium of numbered lists.
If you’ve been reading this for a while, you’ll know I usually add hyperlinks to other stuff I’m doing, like I did just there—tempting you all subtle-like to have a look.
But not this time. This is gonna be an update on things I’m doing and places you can find my increasingly large volume of content to help you enjoy a more fulfilled career for FREE. Then I’ll tell you about how to work with me 1-1 too.
Let’s dive in.
1: Use my free online content to improve your career
That’s THIS blog that you’re reading right now. If someone’s sent you this, subscribe here. I write it fortnightly, or thereabouts.
My LinkedIn account.
If you’re not following me then frankly you’re missing all the freshest advice and ideas in the shortest form. I write there daily.
I’ve not written one for five years and I’ve decided to do more of them. They may be shorter form than these Substack ones usually are. I dunno, it’s early days. But take a look at this first one.
CV template and content guide.
Yep - It’s been paywalled for too long, along with those of other CV writers. So I thought I’d make it free. If you need one, go get it.
When my 17-year-old daughter said she needed a CV, I thought I should probably help her. Then I turned it into a free guide to help the teens in your world, too.
My YouTube videos. I am building a collection of videos to help you nail your career. Like this one to help you tidy the dates on your CV, and this one to help you do so SO much better in interviews.
Let’s not forget my website. I nearly did. It’s self explanatory.
My new book Escape Corporate W@nkery: Build Self-Belief and Go It Alone. Read it if you want to escape (or have been forced through redundancy) and want to set up as a freelancer, consultant, or interim contractor. Or all three. OK - so this one’s not free, but get on my weekly Go It Alone email list to learn even more to help you take that step. That IS free.
2: Or work with me 1-1 to improve your career
So all that stuff above—that’s FREE content that WORKS. It really does.
Consume all that to your heart’s content. I’d do the same. For a while.
But at some point, you need to ask yourself how quickly you want to get a new job? Is it worth all the personal time and investment of doing it yourself versus paying me to work with you 1-1?
I’m not overly fussed which you choose, it’s up to you, but I can tell you that at the time of writing I have 75 five-star Trustpilot reviews and 106 on LinkedIn that say it’s worth investing to get results more quickly.
The last director that worked 1-1 with me in September went from truckloads of tumbleweed from his applications to not only interviews but an OFFER—inside a fortnight of us finalising his CV. 🤯
You can use my templates, read my emails, all of that—but nothing beats working with me 1-1 to make tracks at the highest level of quality:

For when you’re not sure which direction to go next and need professional guidance to show you the way.
CV deep dive and rewrite—
For when you’re fed up with a sea of rejection and ghosting, and want to convert job applications to job interviews.
LinkedIn profile update—
To present you to the online world (and therefore recruiters) in the best way possible.
Interview coaching programme—
For when you think you “Just need to get in front of people”. Yeah, right. Even my clients who thought they were a 4/5 for interviewing realised they were actually a 2/5.Career transition support—
Anything from 4 weeks to 3 months, depending on what you want to achieve. I can hold your hand all the way.
Executive coaching—
Join a handful of clients that work with me over 6-12 months on defining and reaching massive goals in their lives.
3: How to engage me 1-1
Simples. Here’s some options. #3 is the best.
Hit reply to this email (if you’re not reading it as a blog).
Message me here via my website.
Just book a Job Offer Accelerator call with me.
A great way for us to become acquainted and for me to solve some of your problems quickly. I’ll provide advice and guidance or your CV, interview challenge, or any other element of your job search, and suggest ways I can work with you 1-1 from those above.
There’s no obligation, but think of it as a ‘Pick my Brains’ session.
I charge £95 for the Job Offer Accelerator call and I’ll refund that against further work you do with me (services start at £295). And coincidentally, about 95% of my clients do.
Right—well that was an extremely link-heavy email.
I recommend saving this in your “Job Search” email folder so you can come back to it.
Next time, it’ll be back to business as usual with more free ideas, tips, and anecdotes to help you sort your career out.
Phil
PS: Go get that free CV template I mentioned—you might as well.
